Here we see the eye of a Whale , symbol of the great mother of the oceans,
transforming into a giant typhoon off the Japanese coastline, this is an
obvious observation pertaining to the law of karma. While the Japanese people
and culture represent one aspect of the beauty of human unfoldment, their
obvious blind spot regarding the concensus of the vast majority of humanity
to cease whaling, can only lead to trouble from the ocean , eventually.
In the lower left of the painting is the image of the Daibutsu {Big Buddha}in
Kamakura. This Buddha, the Amida {Infinite Light} Nyorai is one of the
oldest savior figures in Japanese Buddhism. The Amida faith is concerned
primarily with the life to come {Paradise}We can only hope that the Souls
of all the slaughtered whales ascend to this realm after death . In the
bottom right of the painting is the image of Miroku Bosatsu {the Buddha
of the future} from the 7th century , in the Chuuguuji Temple of Nara. This
Bodhisattva being will come to save all beings in the world , with a mind
of Compassion. May this Buddha arrive sooner rather than later and shine
his light into the hearts , minds and souls of the Japanese people, to
end the slaughter of the whales. Realising Shinto and Buddhism have had
such a profound affect on the mind of the Japanese peoples, one can only
pray that the law of Karma from the ocean sweeps over the Japanese coastline
a little more gently than the Japanese whaling fleets have been treating
the Kujiras {Whales}.
